PROJECT SERVICE

CHATER PROJECT

The members of the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport Enclave, after receiving their charter certificate on 22nd August 2023, decided to undertake a charter project centered around some of Rotary’s Areas of Focus; and chose the Senior Correctional Center [Formally known as The Borstal Institute in Accra] as the beneficiary institution.
PHASE ONE of this project involved:
  • Painting their classroom Block. (Supporting Basic Education & Literacy)
  • Planting a hundred crop trees, (Protecting the Environment)
  • Providing the juveniles with food packs and drinks
  • Mentoring and counseling sessions with the juveniles
This phase of the project was successfully executed on 7th October 2023 by the Charter members of the club, with the support of Rotarians from our parent club the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport, Rotarians from other clubs and Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Accra-Airport.
It was a joy to see all present giving a helping hand to complete the project. The juveniles really benefited from the mentoring and counseling session. They also enjoyed the packed lunch.
We trust that the trees we planted will flourish to protect the environment as well as provide them with fruits in the future.
PHASE TWO of this project will be to:
Provide the Senior Correctional Center with items required by the juveniles to improve upon their lives: mostly educational items, detergents, toiletries and canned food amongst others

PROJECT 2

We shall continue to raise funds to embark on the District Governor’s Solar Vaccine Shelter Project. This is centered around two Rotary areas of focus:
  • Disease prevention and treatment & Maternal and child health.
  • To provide Solar panels, inverters and specialized vaccine fridges in remote communities not connected to the national electricity grid.
This will improve power stability to ensure adequate storage facilities for vaccines; and subsequently improve vaccination activities in Ghana.
The cost of one fully kitted Solar Direct Device is about USD 7000 approximately Ghc 84,000.
We are therefore asking all present to dip deep into their pockets when we begin our fundraising activity, to enable us raise a Charter night target of GHC100,000.00; to enable us finish phase 2 of our charter project, and undertake the solar vaccine shelter project.
